Somali rapper K'Naan and Brooklyn resident MC Mos Def were the featured artists on the most recent episode of Austin City Limits on PBS.

The show, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this season, has been venue to countless classic rock, country, folk, and the occasional world musician throughout the course of its history. Yesterdays episode (season 35, episode 10) was a first for the network program. K'Naan and Mos Def, who shared the spotlight in a 2-part episode, were the first hip-hop artists ever to be featured on the show.

Recently, K'Naan's anthem "Wavin' Flag" was named the official theme of the 2010 Fifa World Cup. Mos Def, no stranger to awards in the hip-hop scene, is a 2010 Grammy nominee for best album (The Ecstatic) and best rap solo performance ("Casa Bey").

Congratulations to K'Naan and Mos Def for being the first rappers considered acceptable for network television performances.

Enjoy the show.
