Teflahn Poetix is back with another full length project. This time he borrows a name from Marvel Comics' arguably most underrate hero, War Machine.

Paul McCartney & Erykah Badu featured via samples.

The Gorillaz are set to release a new album on Xmas day. The entire project was recorded from the bands eight tourbusses as they trekked across the United States and Canada on the American leg of their world tour. The album, which is reportedly called The Fall, was recorded entirely on singer Damon Albarn's iPad and will represent the world's first ever "iPad album".

As part of their "25 Days of Christmas" releases, the band has just given fans the first sneak peak into the new music. The album will drop for free online on the 25th. Don't miss it.
From Montreal to Vancouver via Seattle, Texas and Toronto, over 31 days on their North American Tour this autumn, Gorillaz recorded a musical diary. The result is a collection of 15 tracks, some with vocals, some without, some combined performances and some solo.

The 15 track sonic journal, titled The Fall, produced by Gorillaz and Stephen Sedgwick, will be available to download for free by Sub Division (link to sub division http://gorillaz.com/sub-divison) fan club members on Christmas Day and will also be streamed on Gorillaz.com from Christmas Day.

More details here http://gorillaz.com/news/news/gorillaz-the-fall
Check out the teaser video below and catch up on the past 19 days of media releases right HERE at Gorillaz.com/Xmas. Catch the tracklisting and a quote from Damon below the video.

"I found working in the day, whether it's in the hotel or in the venue, it was a brilliant way of keeping myself well." Adding that the collection is "..like a diary, I literally wrote everything on the day in each place and there's a strange sort of sound of America and its musical traditions that comes through. It feels like a journey through America."

Wu Tang never really went away, but they still seem to somehow be making a resurgence. I for one am amazed.

Now here's one from Ghostface...

As far as I know, this is the first collabo between Ghost & Thought. Why the hell did this not happen earlier??

Check out Bryant's latest video project for "We On" below. This is easily the hardest thing I've seen and heard from Bryant to date. Especially digging the lyricism in the first verse. Definitely don't take your eye of this dude.
Be sure to check out everything else he's had on Waitin for the DJ right here.

“I wanted to bridge the gap between the O.G’s like Diamond D and artists that I consider to be the future, like Blu,” explains Brady. “Nobody is really doing that right now and making it sound right, so I wanted to do something different, something that I thought would sound right.” -Mr. Brady

Happy Holidays everyone,

All the best Christmas songs were written by Jews, and Chanukah songs suck. This is my favorite Christmas tune, sung over the Vince Guaraldi instrumental.

Cheers,
Mayer Hawthorne

Mayer Hawthorne - Christmas Time Is Here by Mayer Hawthorne

Hohoho

From what I can tell this track is still a work in progress (as evidenced by the list of people in the image above who AREN'T on this version), but still a good one to add to your holiday playlist this year, whether or not its complete. Kanye and CyHi stand out enough to distract from the gap at the end.

Peace.

Produced by Equinox Productions. Video shot and produced by Jamil Woods of BoldLifestyle Photography in Washington, D.C.

Little too much focus on smoke & money for my taste, but still a solid track all around.

Got with the kid Dred for Hot Mop Films and shot something over the weekend. Nothing crazy here concept-wise, just 2 New York kids on either side of the camera.

Filmed in front of Hells Gate Bridge in Queens, NY.

This album was done completely by us, being recorded in our drummer/producer's bedroom. Renewable Energy features appearances by Fat Tony, Kyle Hubbard, and Aidan Kennedy of The Handshake. The whole album is available on our Bandcamp page (http://twentyeleven.bandcamp.com) for free.

The prize for those who took the time to seek out 12 members of Gorillaz (live and animated) scattered randomly across the internets for the "Where are the Gorillaz?" scavenger hunt. People who successfully found them all were also entered into a drawing for a Jamie Hewlett-designed surf board. If I win I'm taking it over to Art Hill the first day it snows.

Now you (who presumably didn't do all of that scavenger hunt rubbish) get to listen to it with zero effort!

You're very welcome.

On December 25, 2010 Scripts' N Screwz will release The Hangover EP as a digital stocking stuffer and in anticipation of their upcoming sophomore full-length, Smoke and Mirrors, due out on The VE Company in 2011. The Hangover EP will be available to download on Christmas Day at scriptsnscrewz.com.

The six song EP includes the first single "On 10" from the upcoming album which SNS released a video for earlier this year that you can watch here. Tracks "SNS" and Jet Lag" showcases the East St. Louis duo's clever lyrical versatility and plays out like an spacey, electronic funk dream. The Hangover EP builds from a sonically diverse palate that is both refreshing and cleverly executed reaffirming comparisons to Outkast. For the past four years, these multi-media artists have kept a grand vision of producing original, experimental hip hop and The Hangover EP is a noteworthy culmination of talent and a dynamic introduction to the soon-to-be-released Smoke and Mirrors.

Come Christmas Day SNS will be waiting to crash your your traditional Holiday gatherings with six soulful, mind expanding tracks from The Hangover EP.

The Hangover EP tracklist:
1. Jet Lag
2. The Morning After
3. On 10
4. Showtime
5. SNS
6. Soundboys

Press Quotes:
"With their smart and innovative lyrics, eclectic music, and die-hard work ethic, Scripts 'N Screwz will make people believe. A change is coming and Scripts 'N Screwz may very well be leading the wave of new Midwest and mainstream hip-hop." - Consequence of Sound

"Lyrically, Noise tends to avoid most of the biggest clich├ęs associated with the genre; its songs thoughtfully touch on subjects like war, poverty and crazy women... the album is ambitious and well-executed, providing listeners an impressive amount of variety - while offering an intelligent alternative to commercial rap." - The Riverfront Times
From Lincoln Way Nights.

This video looks really fucked up. I'm not a fan of the gore-porn genre of movies like Saw and the like, so I'm pretty sure I'm not going to enjoy this one.

Kweli and Mick Boogie just released the official Year of the Blacksmith Community Mixtape. It features Blacksmith favorite Talib Kweli, Strong Arm Steady, Consequence, Jean Grae, and more.

Apparently Rae's new album, Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang, is completely finished, although it isn't supposed to drop until next year. In the meantime, here's the first release from it: "Butter Knives".

The song is alright, but the weird Morpheus-lookin dude in the middle really fux up the video.

Beef is not the summer jam on Hot 97.

Jay Elect doesn't drop random tracks like this very often, so enjoy it. From what I can tell, this is an older track. Jay approaches this one the same way his did his Nas tribute track - by evoking the style of the MC in question (at least on the first verse), this time the late Guru. RIP Mr. Elam.

Tone Treasure's name might not ring a bell, but if you follow Jay Electronica you'll recognize the voice from "Victory is in My Clutches" and "Renaissance Man".

Props to NahRight for the link:

According to the track info, this one is from Act II: Patents of Nobility. Hopefully we'll get album info soon?

Peace.

Words are Power. Eternia takes this truth to heart in Pt. 3 of the "QUEENS CHRONICLES" Series, presented by YEAH! Films & photographer Jason Matos. Not only a glimpse into the streets of Astoria, Pt. 3 also provides a revealing look into the mind and heart of Eternia herself, via her words & DJ Boo's percussion. Don't miss the final installment of the series!

This blog seems to be taking a very quick, sharp turn towards the underground. I've always had love for independent and alternative artists, but the past couple weeks has been overwhelming in solid music from the non-major folks. This is for sure a good thing.

The next notable news from under the radar comes from Chuck.Tailor. His Good.Luck.Chuck.SomeX.Music.Sux EP, which has a real grainy Blu style to it, is one of the realest projects I've heard recently. The manner in which it was recorded is an inspiring throwback to say the least. Read it in his own words:
a short collection of some raw hip hop shit, i recorded this whole record in one evening, no soundproofing,no engineers, just me, some green and a couple of Heinekens.
i try 2 get as much done when i can
If you like it dope, if not…..
oh well thats hip hop.
I intended this project to be reminiscent of an old demo tape,
you know!? when labels actually had artist development, and would help mold an artist, so i apologize for the sound quality, but id rather you get the point
peace

We already caught some footage of Freeway Ricky Ross filming his bit for Kanye's "Monster" video earlier this week. (Catch it here.) Now we've got some images of the rest of the action.

Sorry I'm so late on this; got it in the inbox a while ago but I really suck at going through it sometimes.

Anyway, you may remember Kil Ripkin from his "Not You" music video a while back (definitely worth checking out). Now he's back with a full new project called The Quickening. Download it below and enjoy good music.

Good to know there are still real artists out there talking about real things consistently.
Keep it up.

I'm a fuckin music snob man. Seriously. Especially when it comes to hip-hop. With that being said, let me take it a step further: I've never paid money for a Jay-Z, 50 Cent, OR Lil Wayne album. Haven't paid a penny. Haven't even kept any on the damn hard drive for longer than a few months except for maybe BP3. Maybe. Don't get me wrong, their music is entertaining on an incredibly high level, but it never moved me enough to make me want to contribute to their already staggering levels of wealth.

HOWEVER, I would totally pay money for a Dee-1 album based on this video. So where are they?

EDIT: Just did a bit of an internet search and put the money where the mouth was. Go to http://dee1music.com/ to download Dee-1's mixtape, I Hope They Hear Me! and make a donation to the artist. Peace.

This is by no means a new video, but I just found it randomly online and had to share it. Modern jazz great Robert Glasper and crew team up with Mos Def at the Blue Note. Check it out.

Not to be outdone by the Gorillaz cover of the popular XX tune, "Crystalize", Theophilus London became the second Brit this week to drop an XX-inspired track. This one is a remix of another favorite, "You've Got the Love". Check it out below, and be sure to catch the Gorillaz video as well HERE.

Enjoy.

Rugz D. Bewler has been blowing up my inbox so much that I haven't had a chance to even prepare to sift through all of it. This one's the most recent and it's where I decided to start and DAMN! This blew me to pieces man. First off I fuckin love DOOM. Nuff said there. Second, Rugz kills it on one of the top MF beats available. Win & win.

See what Team Colours had to say about the release, check out the track below, and download it while you listen.
With the year coming to a close, Rugz D. Bewler has decided to introduce an informal freestyle series of verses "assisted" by the producers (and songs) that have impacted, influenced, and inspired him as an artist. In sports, an assist is awarded when a player helps their teammate score a goal. All of the freestyles will be labeled as "Assist by... " to help Rugz D. Bewler score points with music fans and accomplish his goals in the music industry. Unlike other artists series (which have become the norm nowadays), this isn't restricted to formats, formulas, or release dates. The 1st freestyle of this series is "Curls" by MF Doom. Enjoy!

Peace.

Some of Jay Electronica's biggest tracks thus far have been crafted instrumentally by Just Blaze. So just how does he feel about Jay since his Roc Nation signing? And what's with Diddy anyway?

Live in the UK and think you can hang with the heavyweights on a major label? Let Red and Meth straighten you out a bit.

Today, Def Jam Rapstar, the first music game dedicated to hip hop, is proud to announce its new partnership with Atlantic Records and HMV as they launch the nationwide search for Britain’s best emcee.

Freestylers can submit their best track using Def Jam Rapstar’s innovative freestyle mode with beats from the best producers in the world including DJ Premier, Just Blaze, Cool & Dre, Ill Blu, and S-X.

Look for it 12/17.
